If your city has adopted this year's Ride to Work Day proclamation of recognition, and you wish to issue a press release about the proclamation, attached and below is a template for a suggested press release. It is best if this is provided to local media for release on Monday, July 17 or Tuesday, July 18; a day or two in advance of Ride to Work Day, which is this coming Wednesday the 19th. The Press Release Template may be freely modified in any way to better suit your needs.

We appreciate your support for Ride to Work Day this year. It's the first year for this civic recognition program and we know it is already making a difference for many riders and many communities. If you've adopted the proclamation and would like your community listed on the Ride to Work website as a Ride to Work Day supporting city, please contact me and I will make those arrangements.

I appreciate your support for Ride to Work Day.

Mayor Proclamation For Ride to Work Day

The City of _________ recognizes Ride to Work Day

Today the City of ____ adopted a proclamation encouraging motorcycle and scooter riders to ride their bikes to work on Wednesday, July 19th, this years date of the annual Ride to Work Day event. To help recognize the energy efficiency and other positive values of riding, all motorcycle and scooter parking at city meters and publicly owned garages will be free on this day.

As a supporter of Ride to Work Day, we appreciate how these vehicles help reduce traffic and parking congestion, save fuel, are less destructive to road surfaces and help riders reach their destinations efficiently and quickly. We are proud to highlight the daily positive use of motorcycles and scooters, and to encourage their wider adoption.
